On April 23, Marin Alsop makes her Metropolitan Opera debut conducting the company premiere of John Adams’s El Niño. Directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, this fully staged new production of the composer’s Christmas oratorio stars Grammy Award–winning soprano Julia Bullock and baritone Davóne Tines, both also making company debuts, and mezzo-sopranos J’Nai Bridges and Daniela Mack, who take turns to complete the trio of principals.   

Looking ahead to the production, Alsop reflects: “Art is constantly evolving, and the Met’s commitment to bringing alive works of our time is wonderful. I’m excited to be part of something new and different at the Met.”
